Victor Lions Club names raffle winners
VICTOR — Due to icy weather Dec. 14, the Victor Old Fashioned Christmas took place Sunday, Dec. 15.
Following a fireworks display and immediately before the musical closing, the Victor Lions pulled the winning tickets for the annual raffle drawing at the American Legion.
The first-place prize of $7,000 went to Shirley Thys. Taking second prize of $2,000 was Jack Rhinehart. Taking home the $1,000 third prize was Mary Jo Seaton. Proceeds will support service work with an emphasis sight, the main focus of Lions Clubs.
Central College releases dean’s list
PELLA — Central College recognized 411 students on its fall dean's list.
Among the honorees were Olivia Bohlen and Sheldon Coover, of Belle Plaine; Hunter Clemann and Wesley Hamor, of Tama; Emory Clements, Kyla Daniel, Cally Gibbs, Julio Parmley and Brielle Sherman, of Grinnell; Reagan McMenomy, of Williamsburg; Lauryn Venema, of Amana; Benjamin DeMeulenaere, of Chelsea; Katelyn Hofmaster, of North English; Leah Bontrager, of Wellman; and Gabrielle R Fye, of Brooklyn.
The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade-point average or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.
