Buena Vista releases dean’s list
STORM LAKE — Buena Vista University named more than 560 students to its fall 2024 dean’s list.
Among students receiving recognition were Ashton Braack and Brenda Woodsmall, of Grinnell; Andrea Byerly, of Ainsworth; Morgan Malli, of Amana; Megan Shannahan, of Parnell; and Kristen Thomas, of Wellman.
The dean’s list recognizes full-time students who have achieved a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the semester.
Gustin named to Trine president’s list
ANGOLA, Ind. — Ricki Gustin, of Gilman, was named to the Trine University’s dean’s list for the fall 2024 term.
Gustin is majoring in Industrial Engineering Technology.
To be named to the president’s list, a student must complete a minimum of 12 hours and have a grade-point average of 3.75-4.0.
Kalona resident on dean’s list
DUBUQUE — — Among the 237 students on the Clarke University fall dean’s list is a student from Kalona.
Joseph Hall was named to the list of students who earned a grade-point average of 3.65 or higher on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum of 12 graded undergraduate hours.
Yoder receives university honor
CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Sydney Yoder, of Wellman, was named to the dean’s list at Cedarville University the fall 2024 semester.
This recognition requires a 3.75 grade-point average or higher for the semester with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Cedarville University is a Baptist institution in southwest Ohio.
Cook named to dean’s list
CEDAR RAPIDS — A Montezuma student is one of 102 students named to the Coe College dean’s list.
Owen Cook has been named to the fall 2024 list for Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the term and rank in the top 10% of the student body.
Williamsburg library to host stargazing workshop
WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Public Library invites the community to a free presentation on stargazing Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the lower level meeting room of the library.
This informative session will cover the fundamentals of identifying constellations and understanding the wonders of the night sky.
Astronomy enthusiasts Mark Bowman and Kate Poelter will lead the session, offering their expertise and passion for the cosmos in a way that is accessible to beginners.
The session is open to all ages and is designed to make stargazing both fun and educational.

Marengo residents graduate from Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS — Two Marengo students were among those who graduated from Mount Mercy University in December.
Sydney Dietze received a Master of Science degree in nursing, and Sidney Spence, Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
