Parnell woman selected for Iowa Collegiate Honor Band
STORM LAKE — Five Buena Vista University students were selected for the 29th Annual Iowa Collegiate Honor Band which performed Feb. 1 at Central College in Pella.
The Buena Vista students included Megan Shannahan, of Parnell, on tenor saxophone.
Other Buena Vista students in the honor band were Aubree Jones, on flute; Daniel Zeman, on clarinet; Cameron Germain, on trombone; and Evan Pearce, percussion.
This year's guest conductor was Captain David Regner, Flight Commander for the United States Air Force Band based in Washington, D.C.
Pinkerton named to Mercy College dean’s list
DES MOINES — TJ Pinkerton, of Grinnell, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2024 quarter and semester terms at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines.
To qualify for this academic recognition, a student must attain a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.749 for a minimum of six semester credit hours or four quarter credit hours in their most recent term.
Area students named to ISU president's list
AMES — The following students were named to the President's List at Iowa State University. Students achieving this prestigious designation have maintained 4.0 grade-point averages for two consecutive semesters.
Grinnell: Alexander Crites, Alana Ferguson, Jacob Gosselink, Livie Herbers, Isaiah Hirschman, Tristan Willenbring.
Kalona: Jackson Zahradnek.
Marengo: Andrew Stevenson.
Montezuma: Haylie Moore.
North English: Kaden Hall.
Wellman: Alexa Huber.
Iowa Lakes releases honors lists
ESTHERVILLE — — Two Brooklyn students were named to the Iowa Lakes Community College dean’s list for the fall semester.
Amy Larson and Reid Nowotny were among the 242 students named to the dean’s list, which recognizes students who have grade-point averages of 3.25 or higher during full-time enrollment.
Local students complete Wichita State degrees
WICHITA, Kan. — A Grinnell woman is one of more than 1,240 students who completed a total of 1,378 degrees and certificates at Wichita State University in the fall.
Christa J. Titus received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.
Local students earns degrees
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — St. Cloud State University graduated more than 518 students during fall semester 2024.
Among those students was Britta Meints, of Grinnell, who graduated with a Doctor of Education degree in higher education and student affairs.
