HLV Alumni banquet set for June
VICTOR -- The annual Alumni Meeting and Banquet for Hartwick, Ladora, Victor, St Johns and HLV will be held Saturday, June 28 at the Victor American Legion Hall. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. Cost of the meal is $25 per person.
RSVP by June 13 to Bernie McGuire, 5585 North St, Bettendorf, IA 52722. Checks can be made payable to HLV Alumni Association. Include your year of graduation.
Shinefield named to Knox College dean’s list
GALESBURG -- Aaron Shinefield, of Grinnell, has been named to the Knox College dean's list of distinguished students for the 2025 winter term.
To be named to the dean's list, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term with a grade-point average of 3.6 or better.
Local students graduate from Goshen College
GOSHEN, Ind. -- Members of the Goshen College Class of 2025 were honored during the college’s 127th commencement ceremony April 27.
The class of 2025 consists of 190 graduates. Among them are Sarah Joy Miller, of Kalona, who earned a bachelor’s degree in music and secondary education, and Meredith A. Blossom, of Wellman, who graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in English and theater.
Jepson recognized by Iowa Broadcast News Association
WAVERLY -- Landon Jepson, of Williamsburg, was recognized at the Iowa Broadcast News Association's annual conference in April.
Jepson was the recipient of the $1,000 Grant Price Scholarship, recognizing first or second year students with outstanding promise in the field. He also received first place in sports coverage and sportscast for KWAR and second place in sportscast for Knight Vision.
KWAR, the college's radio station, received second in the Overall Excellence category, and the Knight Vision staff earned a third-place finish in Political Coverage for their election special.
Concordia to recognize Williamsburg student
SEWARD, Neb. -- Concordia University, Nebraska will recognize professional church work graduates at a sending service Friday, May 9.
Lydia Armbrecht, of Williamsburg, will be recognized during the service as a classical Lutheran educator.
The Sending Service recognizes graduates from all five professional church work fields: pre-seminary, pre-deaconess, director of Christian education, director of parish music and Lutheran teachers.
