Local students earn honors at Drake
DES MOINES — Local students have been named to the dean’s and president’s lists at Drake University.
Named to the dean’s list were Grace Huch, of Amana; Malynn Pavey, of Grinnell; Aidan Quinlan, of Marengo; Kayla Jack, of Victor; and Ava Ashcraft and Peyton Driscoll, of Williamsburg.
Named to the president’s list were Erin Nicklas, of Grinnell; Liv Meader, of Kalona and Jaisel Bott, of Marengo.
UW-Platteville releases dean’s list
PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville released its dean’s list, honoring full-time students who earned grade-point averages of 3.75 and higher in the spring 2025 semester.
Among the students honored were Thaddeus Shetler, of Wellman.
ECC names spring graduates
IOWA FALLS — One hundred twenty-one students graduated from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls in May.
Among the graduates were Elizabeth Elliott and Gabriel Reimer, of Grinnell.
Students graduate from Marshalltown Community College
MARSHALLTOWN — Students of Marshalltown Community College graduated in May.
Among the graduates were Hayden Shafer, of Ladora, and Micah Floyd Garringer, of Williamsburg.
Iowa PBS will televise softball championships
JOHNSTON — From regional battles to the big stage, Iowa girls are chasing championship dreams. Iowa PBS will be there live as state softball champions are crowned.
Coverage of each class's title game will begin Thursday, July 24 at 5 p.m. and Friday, July 25 at 2:30 p.m. The championship games will be played at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge. Each game will be broadcast on statewide Iowa PBS and livestreamed on iowapbs.org and YouTube.
Iowa PBS will feature Brad Wells and Aly Cappaert as announcers for the two Thursday night games. Paul Yeager and Laura Leonard will announce the three games on Friday.
