Grinnell students make St. Olaf dean’s list
NORTHFIELD, Minn. — Among the students named to the spring 2025 dean’s list at St. Olaf College were two from Poweshiek County.
Grinnell residents Thea Larsson, a psychology major, and Kayla Sieck, a nursing student, were named to the list for earning grade-point averages above 3.75 and completing at least three credit hours.
An evening of wine and appetizers
AMANA — Three award-winning wineries in the Amana Colonies will host Pairings: An evening of Wine and Appetizers Aug. 8.
This is the third year for this popular event, according to organizers. Those who attend the event will taste six wines and appetizers expertly paired together at Ackerman Winery, Fireside Winery in the Village and White Cross Cellars.
The event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Check in is 5:45-6:15 p.m. at Ackerman Winery, located at 4406 220th Trail in Amana.

Harris makes ECC dean’s list
IOWA FALLS — One hundred thirty-three students were named to the spring 2025 dean’s list at Ellsworth Community College. Among them was Abigail Harris, of South English.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must have earned a minimum of 12 credit hours during the semester and had a grade-point average of at least 3.5.
Iowa County students make dean’s list
MARSHALLTOWN — Among the 261 students named to the spring dean’s list at Marshalltown Community College were two from Iowa County.
Imigyn Stratton, of North English, and Micah Garringer, of Williamsburg, took 12 or more credit hours during the semester and earned grade-point averages of at least 3.5 to make the list.
Wellman resident graduates from Mount Mercy
CEDAR RAPIDS — A Wellman resident graduated from Mount Mercy University in June.
Dominic McCain received a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration from the Cedar Rapids regional Catholic school.
