North English to host annual Fun Days July 28-30

Activities and events planned during North English’s annual Fun Days celebration include:
Friday, July 28
9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Free community craft day at Glaze the Galaxy.
5:30 to 8 p.m.: Walking tacos meal at Faas Feed and Grain, sponsored by the PTO.
6:30 p.m.: Fun run, registration at 5:30 p.m., hosted by Fund Days Committee and Friends of Knoll Ridge Pool; sponsors are Strong Source Ag Services, English valley Well and Pump Service, Freeman Foods, Pat Neumiller, Grimm Real Estate and Insurance, EV Malt Shop, Sheets Chiropractic and Wellness, Southeast Iowa Insurance, Cox Sanitation, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Pat and Sarah O’Rourke, John and Beth Gent — Gent Chopping and Faas Feed and Grain. Following the fun run, there will be a foam party at city park for one hour.
Dusk: Free outdoor family film at Faas Feed and Grain, sponsored by the PTO.
Saturday, July 29
7 a.m.: EV History Center open for coffee and conversation.
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Grilling out at Freeman Foods on Main Street.
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Grilling out at EV Malt Shop on lawn.
10:30 a.m.: North English parade on Main Street, line up at EV High School at 9 a.m., sponsored by the North English Firemen
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Church food stand at city park (Catholic, Christian and Methodist)
11 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Tarot readings and divine messages with Courtney Cox at city park
11 a.m.: Bloom, Shaved Ice and Ghost Town Kettlecorn at city park.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Sapphire Arts by Rebecca Berry at city park.
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Dunk tank at city park, sponsored by Kelsey Hammes, Farm Bureau Financial Services; free activities at the park, including water inflatables, bouncy house, three face painters, obstacle course, musical chair booth and balloon artist, sponsored by Iowa Elite Marketing Group, A and M Earthmoving, White State Bank, County Bank, Bender Foundry Service Inc., Dog-Gone Daycare and Boarding, Ackerman Plumbing, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Swift True Value Marengo, Williamsburg Dental Health Clinic, Strong Source Ag Service, HM Auto Body and Repair Inc., Cox Sanitation, Garcia Carpet and Faas Feed and Grain.
12 to 5 p.m.: Car and truck show on Main Street, sponsored by Goodz Garage, Main St. Pub, Iowa Elite Marketing Group and Smith Electric.
12:30 p.m.: Dummy board tournament in the field, double elimination.
1 p.m.: Free swim at Knoll Ridge Pool, sponsored by White State Bank.
4 to 5 p.m.: Tae kwan do demonstration by Forrest Gibson, cement at city park.
5 to 6 p.m.: Pie auction with auctioneer Gerry Frazier, drop off donations at 4:30 p.m. at the park.
5 to 9 p.m.: Valhalla Hatchets ax throwing, sponsored by Knapp Construction, Cody and Megan Knapp.
5 p.m.: Dinner at park vendors (Stone Wall Brick Oven Pizza and Revels Mobile Meatery LLC)
6 p.m.: Beer tent at city park, sponsored by the North English Firemen.
7 to 11 p.m.: Free live music at city park with Two Buck Church, sponsored by Sinclair Tractor, John N. Wehr Law Office and Cox Sanitation.
After dark: Fireworks by J and M Displays.
Class reunions meeting this year are 1963, 1973, 1983, 2003 and 2018.
Sunday, July 30
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Fun Days brunch at the Community Center.
10 a.m.: Church service at city park by the Rev. Michelle Williamson, Methodist Church; four-person best shot golf tournament at Knoll Ridge (sign up at 319-664-3700.
Noon: golf cart and more brigade, meet at city park.
1 p.m.: Poker run starting at city park (registration at 12:30 p.m.); free swim at Knoll Ridge Pool sponsored by Grimm Company Real Estate.
Organizers express their thanks to Cox Sanitation and Recycling for trash pick-up, porta-potties and tents, as well as the City of North English for their support.
