Now’s the time to register for Jingle Around the Square

MARENGO — Businesses that want to be part of Marengo’s annual Jingle Around the Square need to register by Nov. 24, says Corienne Dally, director of Marengo Community Development.

Any business that registers will have its name on the Jingle map for residents and visitors.

Jingle Around the Square is set for Saturday, Dec. 2 from 5-7 p.m. Businesses will offer treats, coupons, sales, cocoa or cider and novelty items to children and adults who visit their businesses.

Dally said that businesses not located around the square can partner with businesses around the square to be part of the holiday event. They should contact the Marengo Community Development office for details.

At 5 p.m. Dec. 2, residents and visitors can stop at the North Pole, also known as City Hall, to receive their jingle bags and maps. The annual parade will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Santa will be in town that Saturday to have breakfast with children at 8 a.m. at Iowa Valley Elementary School. Santa will have supper with residents from 4-7 p.m. at the new American Legion Hall, 1648 Franklyn Ave., for $10 a plate.

The Snow Globe Dancers from Leanne’s School of Dance will entertain on the Marengo square at 5:15 p.m., and a horse-drawn wagon will take residents for a ride during the evening.
