AMANA — Famous Frauen were the subject of the Amana Colonies Oktoberfest weekend.
Temperatures were mostly mild for the thousands who visited the historic town during the annual three-day celebration.
The Amana Meat Shop float won Best Use of Theme during Saturday’s parade with a tribute to the women that have helped the business thrive. The El Kahir Shrine won Most Humorous for its keg rider and the vehicle Leapin’ Lena.
The Ox Yoke Inn float, which featured descendants of co-founder Lina Leichsenring, took the Judge’s Choice award.
Parade judges Diana Nollen, Emilie Hoppe and Hometown Current Managing Editor Winona Whitaker chose the winners.
