MARENGO — A total of 283 exhibits were entered in the twelve departments of the Open Class Division at the Iowa County Fair this month.
The shelves in the Open Class area in Zentmire Hall on the Iowa County Fairgrounds were packed with 85 photos, vegetables, fruits and flowers, 33 exhibits in the textile department and 16 in the quilting department.
A wide variety of arts and crafts were entered — 49 exhibits in that department.
Cash awards were given to exhibitors who received Award of Excellence and Best of Show ribbons in the judging. Gift cards and other gifts donated by local businesses were handed out in a drawing of the exhibitors names.
The participation in the Open Class at the fair continues to grow each year, according to the Open Class committee. Anyone in Iowa County and surrounding counties may exhibit in the open class.
