GRINNELL — UnityPoint Health-Grinnell will celebrate Occupational Therapy Month and 27 years of occupational therapy with an open house.
The public can learn more about occupational therapy services provided in Grinnell during the open house April 25 from noon to 2:30 p.m. in the F.A. Jones Physical and Occupational Therapy Center at 210 Fourth Ave., Suite 101 in Grinnell.
Visitors can learn more about upper extremity rehabilitation, lymphedema care and adaptive equipment and speak to experts about services.
Occupational therapy helps individuals of all ages perform meaningful and important activities of daily life, said UnityPoint in a press release.
From helping individuals recovering from an injury regain the use of their hands to teaching seniors how to adapt their homes for better mobility, OT provides personalized interventions that improve function, increase independence and enhance quality of life, UnityPiont said.
OT can assist with acute injury, such as fractures; stroke; repetitive strain injury, such as tendonitis; chronic pain; and lymphedema.
Patients should talk to their primary care providers about a referral for an OT appointment, Unity Point said.
