PALS receives Cash for Classrooms grant

WILLIAMSBURG — Parents and Leaders for Students for Mary Welsh Elementary will receive $7,660 from Casey’s Cash for Classrooms program to upgrade the kindergarten and first grade playground.

The playground project, which is the first phase of multiple playground updates, includes adding a shed and play materials for creative loose parts play.

Adding loose parts, such as buckets, hoops, tubes, and spools, to the playground gives children a wide variety of play options, according to a new release.

This phase of the playground project is expected to be completed by fall 2024. The larger playground project includes multiple updates, all of which will focus on making the space more inclusive for all students.
