BELLE PLAINE — There will be several new faces on this year’s Belle Plaine boys and girls golf teams.
With only nine total out this season, six will be newcomers.
The girls team placed eight at the South Iowa Cedar League meet last season, but conference runner-up Jacey Reineke graduated last year.
All four girls on the team this season are underclassmen and newcomers.
The boys team placed 10th at conference last season, and will have three returners this season out of its team of five.
Cooper Hoey, Derek Kressley and Brandon Hall all competed at sectionals last season for the Plainsmen. Hoey placed in the top 20.
“This will be another new year to gain experience and confidence,” Belle Plaine coach Andrew Dahlquist said. “We will be looking for bright spots and celebrations along the way,”
The Plainsmen open their season April 7 in a triangular at Brooklyn Country Club.
