Plainsmen finish runner-up in Class B
Williamsburg goes 1-2 in class A shot put

MARENGO — With junior varsity teams included, there were a total of 14 track and field teams that scored in the Ruth Ahrens Invitational Tuesday in Marengo.
After the girls had their go-around Monday, it was the boys’ turn Tuesday.
The race of the day for area teams was the 4x200-meter relay. Iowa Valley edged Williamsburg by about half a second in a time of 1:31.26.
The Tigers were anchored by Caleb Haack, who added a victory in the 100, dropping his time to 11.03.
Iowa Valley added titles in class A in the 400 from Jeffrey Crawford and in the 4x400 and shuttle hurdle relays.
Williamsburg had a good showing in the shot put, going one-two with the duo of Dylan Weisskopf and Malachai Williams. Weisskopf threw 47 feet, six inches in the windy conditions.
Colin Reed added a title in the 3,200, and the Raiders went two-three in the 400.
In class A, Benton Community won the team title with 178 points. Iowa Valley had 108, Williamsburg 102.
Belle Plaine and HLV-TC competed in Class B.
The Plainsmen took home seven event titles, highlighted by a gritty, solo victory from Lucas Eichhorn in the 800. Eichhorn finished in 2:03.16.
From the third straight time, Sam DeMeulenaere ran in the 56s in the 400 hurdles. Lane Vokoun took care of business in the 110 hurdles and long jump.
First-time individual winners this season were Mason Walter in the 400 and Ty Alcott, who tied for first in the high jump.
HLV-TC continues to get great contributions from Aiden Van Waus and Sean McCulloch.
Van Waus was runner-up in the 400 hurdles while McCulloch tied for first in the high jump. Both ran legs on the winning sprint medley and runner-up 4x400 relays.
McCulloch was also on the winning distance medley team.
Sigourney won the Class B title with 126 1/2 points. Belle Plaine followed with 119. HLV-TC scored 77 1/2 team points.
