MARENGO — A 24-year-old woman was faces three felony charges after being brought into a hospital emergency room with no pants and covered in paint.
Brianna Carter was taken into custody on an outstanding mittimus warrant and was later charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft, Marengo Police Chief Ben Gray said in a press release Friday.
At about 2:21 a.m. Friday, the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting that a woman was attempting to break into Rice’s House of Grooming, located at 224 E. Main Street in Marengo.
Deputies checked the area but did not find the woman.
At 2:32 a.m., Compass Memorial Hospital reported that a woman who was covered in paint and was wearing no pants or underwear had been brought into the emergency room, the press release says.
When deputies spoke with the woman, she said she may have broken into a residence.
The woman was identified as Carter. She gave no address.
Carter was eventually taken into custody on an outstanding mittimus warrant.
At about 6:02 a.m. someone reported damage in the Iowa Valley Elementary School and to a bathroom near the ball fields. Total damages in the school appear to be in excess of $10,000.
At 9:15 a.m., another residential burglary was reported. Evidence connected Carter to that incident, according to Marengo police.
Following an investigation, Carter was charged with crimes related to several of these reports.
Carter is charged with burglary in the third degree, a Class D felony; criminal mischief in the first degree, a Class C felony; burglary in the second degree, a Class C felony; and theft in the fourth degree, a serious misdemeanor.
Additional charges are pending.
