Benton County lists polling locations for Nov. 5 election

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. across Iowa Tuesday, Nov. 5. In Benton County, residents will vote at the following polling places.
Belle Plaine I: Community Center, RSVP Room, 1309 Fifth Ave. in Belle Plaine.
Belle Plaine II: Community Center, dining room, 1309 Fifth Ave. in Belle Plaine.
Belle Plaine III: Belle Plaine Fire Station, 504 13th St. in Belle Plaine.
Benton-Canton-Shellsburg: Shellsburg Legion Hall, 114 Main St. in Shellsburg.
Big Grove-Union-Van Horne: Van Horne Community Center, 508 First Ave in Van Horne.
Bruce-Cedar-Monroe-Mt. Auburn: Cedar Hall, 202 Second St., Mt. Auburn.
Eden-Harrison-Taylor-Jackson-Garrison: Courthouse, center hall, 111 E. Fourth St. in Vinton.
Eldorado-Newhall: Newhall City Hall, 11 Second Ave. in Newhall.
Florence-St. Clair-Norway: St. Michael’s Parish Center, 512 Evergreen St. in Norway.
Fremont-Atkins: Atkins City Hall/library, 480 Third Ave. in Atkins.
Homer-Kane-Keystone: Keystone City Hall, 208 First St., Keystone.
Iowa-Leroy-Luzerne-Blairstown: Blairstown City Hall, community center, 305 Locust St. in Blairstown.
Polk-Urbana: Urbana City Hall, community center, 102 Capital Ave. in Urbana.
All Vinton precincts: Vinton Skate & Activity Center, 1703 C Ave. in Vinton.
Walford: Walford City Hall/community center, 120 Fifth St. N. in Walford.
Voters must register to vote by Oct. 21 to appear on the voter register on Election Day.
The auditor’s office will mail absentee ballots beginning Oct. 16 to voters who request them. Absentee ballot requests for voting by mail must be received by Oct. 21.
Absentee ballots must be received by the county auditor by 8 p.m. Nov. 5. The only people who may return absentee ballots for a voter are the voter, someone living in the voter’s household, an immediate family member, two special precinct election officials who deliver a ballot to the resident of a health care facility, dementia-specific assisted living program or hospital.
Absentee ballots cannot be placed in the drop box outside the courthouse.
Voting absentee in person begins Oct. 16 at the auditor’s office.
