Postseason begins for Williamsburg girls Friday
Four area champions Friday at Mid-Prairie

Another week has come and gone as the wrestling postseason inches closer.
The WaMaC girls meet kicks off the postseason action Friday.
Here is a quick look at a few area meets from the week.
HLV-TC Duals
VICTOR — HLV-TC’s Cael Weisskopf picked up his biggest win of the season at 157 pounds Thursday.
Weisskopf, ranked 11th in 1A, defeated fourth ranked Tully Wood of Wayne by a 4-2 decision.
Bryer Jack (144) and Landyn Ankrum (150) each picked up two wins by fall for the Warriors, who finished 0-4 as a team in duals.
English Valleys Triangular
NORTH ENGLISH — English Valleys went 0-2 in a home triangular Thursday against Baxter and North Mahaska.
At 215, Kaleb Bolinger finished 2-0 in live matches.
South Tama Triangular
TAMA — Class 2A No. 17 Williamsburg went 1-1 in a WaMaC triangular Thursday.
The Raiders defeated South Tama 59-6 and fell to 2A No. 4 Independence, 49-29.
In a head-to-head ranked matched at heavyweight, Williamsburg’s Carson Grier secured a third-period fall over the Mustangs’ Gable Eddy.
Riker DeWitt (113), Hayden Albaugh (132), Sawyer Kirby (157) and Brady Grier (175) also picked up wins in the dual against Independence.
On the girls side, Williamsburg finished 1-1, defeating Independence 42-30 and ending their duals for the regular season with a 7-6 record.
The Raiders won six matches by fall in the win over the Mustangs.
In the dual loss to South Tama, Valerie Altenhofen picked up a big win over 2A No. 10 Paisley Bro at 145. Altenhofen pinned Bro in the first period.
Mid-Prairie Invitational
WELLMAN — The Iowa Valley girls wrestling team finished second with 138 team points Friday at the Mid-Prairie Invitational.
Eva Kriegel put together a strong performance at 120 for the Tigers with three wins by fall, two in under a minute.
Skyler Hoyt (125) and Kodie Holcomb (135) also finished champions.
English Valleys finished with 41.5 team points.
Emily Sieren finished in first place at 105 with a win by tech fall in the final over Logan-Magnolia’s Neyva Alberhasky. Bella Schott finished third at 235 for the Bears.
