Public Health hosts flu vaccination clinics

GRINNELL — Poweshiek County Public Health will conduct influenza vaccination clinics throughout Poweshiek County during October.
Various vaccines are available, including Fluzone High-Dose for adults over 65 and the FluLaval flu vaccine for all.
The Moderna COVID-19 booster vaccine will also be available at the flu clinics for anyone 12 years and older while supplies last.
Attendees need to bring copies of their insurance or Medicare cards to the flu vaccine clinics. For anyone 19 and older without insurance the cost per flu vaccine is $30 for the FluLaval and $65 for the Fluzone High-Dose.
Hand sanitizer will be provided. Clinic attendees are asked to arrive at 3 p.m. to allow the public health team ample time to set up after schools are dismissed and the clinic starts.
Appointments are not necessary.
Vaccination clinics will be Monday, Oct. 7 at the Montezuma School Auditorium from 3-6 p.m.; Monday, Oct. 14 from 3-6 p.m. at BGM school cafeteria and Monday, Oct. 21 from 3-6 p.m. at Grinnell-Newburg High School gym.
Anyone who is unable to attend a public flu vaccination clinic and wishes to get a flu vaccine can call public health at 641-236-2385 to schedule an appointment. or contact their primary care providers to receive a vaccine at their next appointment.
