Williamsburg's girls' golf team defeated nine of their 10 opponents last week to improve their season record to 16-2.
The Raiders totaled 217 strokes to win a 9-hole triangular Monday, April 17, at Amana Colonies Golf Club. Host Clear Creek Amana shot a 222 and Marion came in with a 330.
Despite poor playing conditions, — cold and windy — Williamsburg's Jaisel Bott managed to card a nine-over par 45 and earn medalist honors.
Teammate Kylee Culp was runner-up medalist with a 49. The next Raider in with a 60 was Drew Schropp. Julianne Miller added a 63.
A close three-way race for the team championship in the 18-hole Hawk Invitational Thursday, April 20, at Kalona, went to Fairfield with a 394 followed by Williamsburg (397) and West Branch (398).
Culp led the Raiders, tying for third place overall, individually, with a 96. Bott shared sixth place with a 98, Schropp finished eighth with a 100 and Miller was 15th with a 107.
Fairfield senior Viola Welsh claimed medalist honors with an 88, and West Branch senior Alex Poppin was runner-up with a 91.
Williamsburg easily won a 9-hole triangular they hosted Friday, April 21, at Stone Creek Golf Club, shooting a 194 to Independence's 245 and Marion's 272.
The Raiders opened the meet's four low scores, led by medalist Culp with a 45. Bott, Miller and Emma Malloy chipped in a 48, 50 and 51, respectively.
