Williamsburg's girls' golf team bounced back from a season-opening loss to Solon to win its own invitational and conquer two WaMaC teams — all on their home course — last week.
The Raiders struggled in their season debut Monday, April 10, falling by 18 strokes to the Lady Spartans at Stone Creek Golf Club, 176-194.
Junior Jaisel Bott led Williamsburg with a four-over-par 40, earning runner-up medalist honors. Senior Kaylee Culp added a 45.
Coach Todd Subbert's Raiders bounced back from the Solon loss with a championship performance Wednesday, April 12, in the Raider Co-Ed Invitational.
Led by the top two individual scorers — Bott and Culp —Williamsburg totaled 383 strokes over 18 holes to finish 16 shots better than second-place Anamosa with a 399.
Bott, fifth in last year's Class 2A state tournament, fired a 41-41-82 on the par 36-35-71 course to capture medalist honors. Culp was runner-up medalist with a 44-48-92.
Junior Juliann Miller and senior Emma Malloy also figured into the Raiders' scoring, Miller shooting a 49-55-104 and Malloy a 57-48-105.
One day after that victory, Williamsburg shot a 190 to win a 9-hole triangular against West Delaware (192) and Center Point-Urbana (219).
Bott was medalist with a seven-over-par 43. Josphine Rubino, Culp and Miller carded a 48, 49 and 50, respectively.
