WILLIAMSBURG— The Williamsburg boys soccer team fell one win short of qualifying for the state soccer tournament falling 1-0 to Davenport Assumption Wednesday night.
The lone goal in the game came early in the second half by Assumption’s Aiden Nuci.
“Assumption has been consistently one of the top teams in the state” Raiders head coach Ryan Sauser said.
“I thought our guys fought hard in a physical matchup.”
The Raiders close the season with a record of 14-3 (8-2 in conference play).
A total of nine seniors were on this year’s varsity roster: Logan Rethwisch, Caleb Mohr, Max Wodianka, Ian Stumpff, Dawson Zollinger, Simeon Armbrecht, Haven Nunnelley, Jubal Clapp and Braden Yelland.
“I’m grateful for the leadership this group of seniors brought and how they helped push the program forward” Sauser added.
“We did a lot of good things this season and played great team soccer in our style of play.”
