Raiders host substate match Monday

Williamsburg boys soccer closed the regular season with a 7-0 win over Cedar Valley Christian at Martin Sports Complex.
Against CVC, senior Max Wodianka dialed up a hat trick, junior Braysen Doehrmann had two goals and junior John Eichhorn and senior Christian Sigala had one each.
Deohrmann had two assists, with one each for Wodianka and Eichhorn.
Senior Logan Rethwisch had the shutout in goal.
Earlier in the week, No. 8 Williamsburg lost to No. 5 Marion, 2-1, in a shootout, snapping a seven-match win streak.
Wodianka scored the Raiders’ only goal on an assist from junior Connor Westcott.
The Raiders (13-2) open postseason with a substate semifinal against the winner of Keokuk and Mount Pleasant Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m. in Williamsburg.
Girls
The Williamsburg girls went 1-2 last week, beating Mid-Prairie 2-1 Tuesday, May 7, in, and falling to Cedar Valley Christian 6-3 Friday, May 10, at the Martin Sports Complex.
The Raiders also lost, 7-0, to the Wolves on Monday, May 6, in Marion. No stats were reported.
The Raiders (4-11) were slated to open postseason play with a Class 1A regional against Fairfield Monday, May 13, in Williamsburg.
