Raiders keep rolling
8-player playoffs begin Friday

Williamsburg 49, Grinnell 12
GRINNELL — The Williamsburg football team got hot late Friday night and rolled to a big win in its second of three challenges to end the regular season.
The Raiders were up 14-12 after a quarter and pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 28-0.
Nile Sinn ran for 161 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, and the Raiders’ prolific passing attack had another big night.
Grant Hocker threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns. John Eichhorn and Rayce Heitman both had big nights receiving, with 145 and 147 yards respectively.
The winner takes all at Benton Community Friday night in the 3A District 5 title game.
BGM 69, Moravia 19
MORAVIA — The BGM football team clinched a playoff spot in a convincing win over Moravia to close out the regular season Friday night.
Beau Burns threw for 351 yards and a season-high eight passing touchdowns.
Dakota Heishman, Burns’ favorite target, racked up 174 yards and four touchdowns.
The Bears will be traveling to Edgewood-Colesburg for their 8-player first round playoff game Friday.
Montezuma 71, Twin Cedars 0
BUSSEY — The Montezuma football team got a shutout victory in their final game of the regular season.
The Braves’ ground attack scored eight touchdowns on the night; Broox Stockman and Brett Plants had three each.
Up 35-0 after a quarter, the Braves set their cruise control the rest of the game.
Winning their district earned the Braves a first-round home playoff game. They’ll welcome Winfield-Mt. Union Friday.
The Braves defeated the Wolves in their regular season matchup.
New London 56, English Valleys 22
NEW LONDON — The English Valleys football team dropped its final game of the season against New London Friday night.
The Bears finish the season at 1-7.
Winfield-Mt. Union 58, HLV-TC 18
VICTOR — The HLV-TC football fell to the Wolves in their final game of the season Friday night against Winfield Mt. Union.
The Warriors finish the season at 1-8.
