WILLIAMSBURG -- The Williamsburg boys’ swimming team has two more regular season meets before it enters the postseason.
The Raiders scored a total of 31 points at the Cruise-Voss Invitational Saturday in Cedar Rapids.
Nolan Hamerlinck earned two top-10 finishes on the day.
Hamerlinck placed 10th in the 200-yard individual medley and seventh in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.16.
The Raiders’ other top-10 individual finish came from Tyler Warren who placed seventh in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.83.
The Raiders’ top relay finish was in the 400 freestyle relay. The relay team placed ninth with a season-best time of 3:56.86.
With the conference meet and Districts approaching, the Raiders are still hopeful to get an event to State.
“It looks like our best chance at state will be a relay, likely the 200 medley or the 200 freestyle relay,” Williamsburg coach Jan Severns said.
“Calvin is till striving for the 500 (freestyle) mark and he is working on consistent pacing to do just that. Nolan continues to strive for the 100 backstroke working on perfecting his start and turns before Districts.”
Regardless of the results down the closing stretch of the season, Coach Severns hopes to just simply see improvement.
“Our season goal is still the same, overcome obstacles and self doubt to improve in every event and help hold each other up.”
Here is a look at the Raiders top time at each event so far this season. The Raiders will have a shot at podium in a few events at conference, based off current rankings.
The North Central Conference meet will be Feb. 1 at Boone High School. Districts will be Feb. 8 at Johnston.
