WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg boys’ swimming team hope to send some new faces to State competition this season; both qualifiers from last season have graduated.
Nathaniel Crow brought the Raiders a State championship in the 200-yard para freestyle and also competed in the 100-yard para backstroke.
James Duncan also competed in the para division in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.
“We have the possibility of returning a relay to state this season,” Williamsburg head coach Jan Severns said. “We saw our best times last season culminating in the first ever State championship in the para division for us.”
A few key swimmers to watch for this season are Nolan Hamerlinck, Calvin Monohon, Cameron Schulte and Edward Warren, Coach Severns said.
The boys will be competing in the North Central Conference, as does the Raiders girls’s swim team. The boys placed sixth out of eight teams last season.
Practice begins Monday for the Raiders. They will kick off their season before Thanksgiving break with a triangular meet at Grinnell Nov. 25.
