Raiders secure 7th straight divisional title
Sigourney sweeps SICL titles

They needed just a win Wednesday, and they got two.
For the seventh-straight season, the Williamsburg softball team is the WaMaC West divisional champions.
The Raiders defeated Grinnell by scores of 9-2 and 8-3 Wednesday to finish 21-1 in conference play on the season. It is also the team’s third straight overall WaMaC title.
The final regular season games of the season for the Raiders will be Saturday versus Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Monday at Cedar Rapids Prairie (doubleheader).
On the baseball side, Benton Community has wrapped up the West divisional title with a game remaining. The Bobcats are 15-4. Clear Creek Amana came in second at 13-7, and Williamsburg finished 6-13 in conference play.
Regular season play officially concluded in the South Iowa Cedar League in both baseball and softball after Thursday.
HLV-TC softball finished 13-4 in conference play for a third-place finish, the highest among area teams.
Other area teams in softball to finish at .500 or above were BGM (11-5) and Iowa Valley (8-8).
BGM had the highest area finish in baseball, tying for third at 11-5. Iowa Valley was 9-7, and Belle Plaine was 8-8.
It was the summer of Sigourney in the SICL. The Savages swept both team titles, combining for a record of 31-1. It was the fifth-straight title for the softball team.
