WILLIAMSBURG — They’ve done it again, and this time it was on their home course.
The Williamsburg girls golf team qualified for the state meet Wednesday in Class 3A Region 4 at Stone Creek Golf Club. It’s the Raiders seventh straight season qualifying as a team and 12th overall.
The Raiders finished runner-up by one stroke to Lisbon, with a team score of 354. The top two teams qualified in each regional, a total of 10 teams.
The Raiders’ depth was on display again, this time with a different lowest scorer.
“The key for us to be successful is always depth,” Williamsburg coach Todd Subbert said. “Since we don't have a 70s shooter, we need to overcome that with multiple quality scores.”
“The beauty of this group is that it's been different people scoring almost every meet. We'll definitely need that to continue for us to have a good showing at the State meet.”
Kenzi Driscoll earned runner-up honors on the chilly day, with an 84 on the par-71.
Also in the top 10 was Rubianne Allison, who finished eighth with a 89. The Raiders’ four scorers were all in the top 13 and separated by only seven strokes.
Coming off a seventh-place team finish last year at the state meet, the Raiders will head to Saddleback Ridge Golf Course in Solon next Thursday and Friday for the 3A meet.
Class 1A Region 4
NEW SHARON — BGM finished fourth as a team at Prairie Knolls Country Club, with a team score of 400.
Aurelia Roudabush was one place (and stroke) away from qualifying as an individual, placing seventh with a 88 on the par-72.
