Raiders win Ruth Ahrens Invitational

MARENGO — Williamsburg won the team title at the Ruth Ahrens girls track Invitational April 8 in Marengo.

The meet was divided into two classes, A and B, but all 11 teams scored points for the team title.

Williamsburg won eight events in Class A, which also included Benton Community, PCM and Clear Creek Amana.

HLV finished fourth, English Valleys fifth, Montezuma sixth, Iowa Valley seventh and Belle Plaine 10th.

Ema Roberts led the way for the Warriors, winning the high jump and open 400.

Kennedy Axmear took the only individual gold for English Valleys, winning the Class B discus with a toss of 131 feet, 9 inches.

The other Class B throws title went to Lydia Kriegel of Iowa Valley, who won the shot put (38-1). That was the only gold for the Tigers.

Belle Plaine won the distance medley and shuttle hurdle, and Alyssa Steinback won the 100 hurdles in 18.16 seconds.
