In the church of her childhood, Brown played saxophone and drums and found her singing voice and a passion for music. Her first show was in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Since then, the gospel and blues singer has been featured on National Public Radio’s “Favorite Sessions,” on CMT and in American Songwriter, the London Times and Paste Magazine. She has toured the U.S. and abroad, appearing on the U.K.’s Later … with Jools Holland.
The Cody James Trio will perform at Raven Wolf Friday, June 20 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. with featured guest Soultru.
The rock band from Wisconsin is making its second appearance at Raven Wolf Productions, showcasing original songs with lyrics the audience can connect to.
Sorcha will perform Sunday, June 22 at 4:30 p.m.
Sorcha delivers a new and exciting take on the Irish genre, according to the band’s bio.
The goal of Sorcha is to introduce audiences to original material that focuses on creating an exciting live sound by pushing the boundaries of what a reel, jig or a hornpipe can be.
By combining fresh arrangements and technical mastery of our instruments, Sorcha puts on an unique and thrilling show, according to a Raven Wolf press release.
Sorcha is composed of fiddler Nikki Philbrick, guitarist Joseph Carmichael, and Dan Vaughn on tin whistle and flute. Masters of their craft, they’ve been performing within the genre for over a decade in various groups, including Blame Not the Bard and Poor Man's Gambit.
Raven Wolf Productions will host Blame Not the Bard Sunday, June 29 at 4:30 p.m.
Blame Not the Bard began in 2015 as a side project among friends, according to the band’s bio. The friends were soon delighted to see that their love for fiery instrumentals, unearthing captivating stories and getting the whole crowd involved was catching on, leading them to some of the most iconic stages in Iowa.
Blame Not the Bard has played hundreds of shows across the Midwest, lighting up stages in nine states with venues ranging from intimate listening rooms to major festivals including the Kansas City Irish Fest and main stage appearances at the Iowa Irish Fest.
Boasting multiple media appearances, including a 2021 feature in Little Village Magazine, an artist feature on KDEC 100.5 and numerous appearances on the award-winning Irish and Celtic Music Podcast, Ceolplay with Colum King, and a 2022 full-length Greetings from Iowa PBS special, BNTB is sharing their songs and stories around the world.
In August of 2023, BNTB released their sophomore album "Now and Again," which features their current lineup of Andrew Philbrick, Corey Baker, Nicole Philbrick, along with their newest member, Dan Vaughn.
Having performed for years as a trio, this album is a rest stop between old and new, reimagining the songs that BNTB fans know and love before venturing further into their sound as a quartet.
