Register by Oct. 20 to vote Nov. 4

MARENGO — Residents who wish to vote in the Nov. 4 school and city election should register by Oct. 20, according to Iowa County Auditor Brandy Enochson.

Voters may also register at their precincts on Election Day if they’ve moved and need to change their addresses.

Anyone who registers Election Day will need to provide proof of identity (photo ID), proof of residency (current address in the precinct) and sign an oath. This process will take extra time at the polling place.

Voters are encouraged to preregister by 5 p.m., Oct. 20 in the Auditor’s office if their residences have changed.

Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before they may receive and cast ballots. Voters who are not preregistered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence.

Voters who cannot show ID may have their identities attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID.

Anyone in Iowa County who wishes to vote absentee before Election Day may do so by stopping in the Iowa County Auditor's Office Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. beginning October 15.

The last day that a voter can request the Auditor’s Office to mail an absentee ballot will be Oct. 20. Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Forms are also available by mail and online at iowacounty.iowa.gov.

Voting Equipment Testing will start Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. at the East Courthouse Annex in Marengo.
