Register to vote by Oct. 21
Sep. 6, 2024 1:44 pm
The deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 21.
Voters may also register on Election Day at their precincts if they have moved since registering.
To register on Election Day, a voter must provide a photo ID and proof of residency and must sign an oath.
This process will take extra time at the polling place, so officials encourage voters to register or update their addresses in the county auditor’s office by Oct. 21.
Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before they receive and cast a ballot. Voters who are not preregistered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence.
Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID.
For additional information about voter identification visit sos.iowa.gov/voterid or call 319-642-3923 Option #0.
Anyone wishing to vote absentee before Election Day may do so by stopping in the Iowa County Auditor's Office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 16 or Saturday, Nov. 2 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The last day that a voter can request the Auditor’s Office to mail an absentee ballot will be Oct. 21. Voter Registration and Absentee Ballot Request Forms are available by mail or online at iowacounty.iowa.gov.
For more information, contact the auditor’s office at 319-642-3923 Option #0.
Voting equipment testing will begin Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9 a.m. in the East Courthouse Annex in Marengo.
Sample ballots will be available for viewing at iowacounty.iowa.gov.
