Benton County gives employee warning

VINTON – Benton County Supervisors conducted a closed hearing for job evaluation of Barb Fetzer, Benton County Land Use and Health Department.during a regular meeting July 29.
After the hearing, the board gave Fetzer a verbal warning.
Supervisors approved vacation for Grace Schmidt of public health and vacation carryover for Rick Wood of maintenance.
The board designated voting representatives for the Iowa State Association of Counties. It is mainly elected officials who are representatives for Benton County, along with some department heads.
The board approved the hiring of Cheyanne Packer, full-time communications specialist at the sheriff’s office, and approved a fireworks permit for Karen Petersen for Aug. 2 at Bloomsbury Farm.
Supervisor Chairman Tracy Seeman said he has been working with the state on the Van Horne/Blairstown intersection with Highway 30. He said things will start moving faster. “You know, government moves slow, and I’m not one for moving slow. So, if people know me, you know, I’m working as hard as I can.”
