GRINNELL — Iowans on Medicare should use the open enrollment period from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 to review their prescription drug plans or Medicare Advantage plans for 2026.
Part D plans can change the drugs they cover, premiums, co-payments, coinsurance and preferred pharmacies every year.
“With the open enrollment period here soon, it’s important to take the time to review your options carefully. We are here to offer free, unbiased and confidential support,” said Kathy Szary, Senior Health Insurance Information Program and Senior Medicare Patrol counselor.
“We strongly encourage you to make an appointment so we can assist you.”
Call 641-236-2588 now and leave a message with your name and phone number to request an appointment between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7 to discuss your prescription drug plan options with the help of a counselor.
Bring your Medicare card, prescription containers and current drug plan card to SHIIP appointments.
Medicare can be difficult to navigate, and Poweshiek County SHIIP-SMP counselors are available year-round to answer questions.
