Sinn finishes 7th at State

Nile Sinn of Williamsburg placed seventh at the state wrestling meet Saturday, the only place-winner among 10 Current-area wrestlers.

Sinn lost in the second round to Caleb Olson of Union, then won three straight in the consolations. He beat Dirk Boyles of Burlington Notre Dame in the seventh-place match Saturday morning, 8-3 in sudden victory.

All three Iowa Valley wrestlers — Nolan Kriegel (157), Taite Peach (190) and Garrett Hoyt (285) — won their openers.

“Taite and Garrett are going to be tough wrestlers to replace,” Iowa Valley Coach Jeremy Kriegel said. “They both finished their careers with over 100 wins.

“Nolan’s two loses at state were to the first- and third-place finishers,” Kriegel said.
