Six area players earn all-district honors
Burgess, Dacey named district coaches of the year

Six area players were named to all-district teams by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association Monday.
Four area players were selected In the Class 1A Southeast district: HLV-TC’s Ayla Hall, Iowa Valley’s Lydia Kriegel and Montezuma’s Ellen Cook and Shiressa Wetering.
Hall, a Central College commit, led the Warriors in scoring with just over 13 points a game and racked up 113 steals and 108 assists.
Kriegel recently became the Tiger’s all-time leading scorer and also led the team in rebounds this season.
Cook and Wetering are two of four Bravettes who scored more than 200 points. Cook leads in assists and steals, and Wetering in blocks.
Coach Janel Burgess was named district coach of the year as the Bravettes tied for South Iowa Cedar League West champions. This was the 10th straight season the Bravettes have had at least 17 wins.
In the Class 3A Southeast district, Williamsburg’s Carly Rich and Zoe Allen earned honors.
Rich and Allen are the top two scorers for the Raiders, having had their best seasons since 2013-14.
Rich has averaged 12.7 points per game through 23 games and also leads the Raiders in assists and steals.
Allen has been a great presence in the post, averaging slightly over 11 points a game, and leads the team in rebounds.
Coach Stephanie Dacey, in her third season as coach for the Raiders, was named district coach of the year. The third-ranked Raiders are 21-2 heading into tonight’s second-round regional game.
