Six area teams in 1A Region 3

The volleyball postseason is almost here.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released regional pairings Thursday afternoon. All seven area teams now know their first round opponents.

First round matches in Class 1A will be Monday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.; 3A will be Tuesday at the same time.

All six area teams in 1A were placed in Region 3, with the top two seeds being No. 3 North Tama and No. 13 Cedar Ridge Christian. Both receive a bye.

A few South Iowa Cedar League rematches will set up some area teams against some familiar opponents.

English Valleys will travel to Keota. The Eagles topped the Bears in four sets earlier this season in conference play and beat them 2-0 in an early season tournament.

Belle Plaine, which swept Iowa Valley Monday, will face the Tigers again at home.

Montezuma and HLV-TC each will play at home in the first round.

Williamsburg will host its first match in 3A Region 5 against PCM. The Raiders advanced to the second round last season and also have No. 5 Humboldt and No. 12 Roland Story in their bracket.
