WILLIAMSBURG — As one swimming teams season ends, the other begins.
The Williamsburg girls swimming team concluded its season Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Waukee regional meet. The Raiders did not advance to the state meet in any event.
In individual events, the Raiders had three top 10 finishes.
The highest came from Selah Smith in the 100-yard freestyle in 58.93, a season best. Smith also was 10th in the 200 individual medley in 2:30.90.
Jaymie Sherlock also swam a season best, in the 100 breaststroke, placing 10th in 1:25.58.
Monday also marked the beginning of the boys swimming season for Williamsburg. The roster has nine swimmers, including two freshmen.
Cameron Schulte and Calvin Monohon are key returners.
Schulte had the fastest time 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle last season for the Raiders and swam a leg in all the team’s fastest relay times.
Monohon was also on those relay quartets and posted the fastest times in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
The Raiders kick off their season with a home meet Nov. 24, in which five other teams will be traveling to compete in.
