Warriors win on senior night
After weather moved the game back a day, both the HLV baseball and softball teams captured victories over Montezuma on senior night Wednesday.
On the baseball side, Max Henstorf and Boston York combined for eight strikeouts and no earned runs in the 7-1 win. The Warriors had eight hits as a team and four different players brought runs in (Henstorf, York, Cole Fontinel and Sean McCulloch).
The Warrior softball team started out hot right away in the first inning, scoring six runs. Hailey Jack got the win on the mound and Karley Moore, Lily Randall, Raegan Molyneaux and Ayla Hall each had two RBIs a piece.
Raiders win sixth straight divisional title
For the sixth straight year, the Williamsburg softball team has captured the WaMaC West title. It came down to the last conference game as the Raiders only had a one-game lead on Benton Community.
The Raiders defeated West Delaware 13-5 Friday for a 19-3 conference record on the season.
Grinnell captured the WaMaC West baseball title with a 16-6 conference record.
In the SICL, Sigourney captured the softball title with a 13-1 conference record. HLV and English Valleys finished second and third with 12-3 and 11-3 records.
Lynnville-Sully captured the SICL baseball title going undefeated (15-0) in conference play.
