Boulton scores school record 54 points
CENTERVILLE — Montezuma’s Brady Boulton’s stellar junior season continued Tuesday night when he scored a school record 54 points in a 78-67 win over Centerville.
Boulton hit 18 of 28 from the field and knocked in six threes.
As of last week, that was the highest point total by a player this season.
In another out-of-conference game against PCM Thursday, the Braves won 67-55.
Four starters scored in double figures. Boulton led with 18, Kohen Holland scored 15, Dane Strong 11 and Max Anderson 10.
Hall stuffs stat sheet in win
KEOTA — HLV-TC’s Ayla Hall gave a strong performance in a 46-31 win over Keota Tuesday.
Hall posted 21 points, eight steals, eight rebounds and five assists.
DeMeulenaere leads way in close win
BELLE PLAINE — The Belle Plaine boys’ basketball team picked up its third win of the season Tuesday with a 46-43 decision over Colfax-Mingo.
Sam DeMeulenaere led the team with 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Only three Plainsmen scored on the night. Besides DeMeulenaere, Lane Vokoun scored 14 and Ty Alcott, 12.
The Plainsmen girls fell 43-16 to the Tigerhawks.
Bravettes hit 13 threes
BELLE PLAINE — The Montezuma girls’ basketball team hit a season high 13 three-point shots in a win over Belle Plaine Friday.
Seven of them came from Ellen Cook, who scored 23. Vivian Cook had four of her own, scoring 21.
The boys’ team also won, 78-39.
Long, Haack put up 20 plus in loss
MARENGO — The Iowa Valley boys’ basketball team put up a good fight against the top team in the South Iowa Cedar League Friday night against North Mahaska.
The Tigers lost by only 12, and Cole Long and Caleb Haack put up good numbers.
Long has emerged as a big scorer this season to form a great duo with Haack.
Haack scored 24 and Long 21 in the loss.
Lydia Kriegel scored 17 of the Tigers’ 23 points in the girls’ game.
Warriors sweep BCLUW
VICTOR — The HLV-TC basketball teams swept BCLUW in a non-conference doubleheader Friday night.
Peyton Roth scored 22 in the boys’ game. Tucker Donaldson was also in double figures with 11.
The win put the Warriors back at .500 with a 5-5 record.
The girls won a close game 51-48 to move to 5-5 as well.
Raiders heading to Johnston
The Williamsburg boys’ swimming team will be heading to Johnston for Districts Saturday, Feb. 8.
All six sites will begin competition at noon.
The fastest 32 times in each individual event and 24 in each relay will qualify for the State meet Feb. 14-15 on the campus of the University of Iowa.
Other teams at Williamsburg’s site are Ankeny, Des Moines East, Des Moines, Hoover/North, Grinnell, Johnston, Ottumwa and Sioux City.
