Area trio plays in All-Star Games
GRIMES — Montezuma’s Ellen Cook, HLV-TC’s Alyla Hall and Williamsburg’s Carly Rich all participated in the Iowa Pizza Ranch All-Star Games hosted at Dallas Center-Grimes High School Saturday.
The event saw four regional basketball teams, both boys and girls, face off against each other in four-team brackets.
The three area players played on the Southeast Iowa girls team which fell to the Northwest regional team 76-72 in game one.
Cook scored eight points, and Rich and Hall each had six.
In the consolation game, Rich scored seven points.
The event brought some of the best seniors in the state together to put the final close on the 2024-25 basketball season.
Drake Relays schedule released
The schedule for the 115th Drake Relays was released Friday. The premier track and field event will be April 23-26.
High school races will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting with the distance carnival. Several high school field events will also take place on Thursday.
