Raiders 12-1 on the pitch
WILLIAMSBURG -- No. 8 Williamsburg boys soccer won a pair of matches last week, beating Vinton-Shellsburg 2-1 April 29, and topping Mount Vernon 2-1 May 2.
Williamsburg is now 12-1.
Against the Vikings, Max Wodianka and John Eichhorn scored goals and Gunnar Van Hyfte (2) and Braysen Doehrmann had assists.
The Williamsburg girls lost at home to Vinton-Shellsburg, 3-1April 29 and on the road to Mount Vernon 3-0 May 2.
Against the Vikings, freshman Josey Mize scored the lone goal. Mount Vernon fell to 3-9.
English Valleys competes in Riverside
RIVERSIDE — The English Valleys boys track team competed at the Highland Invitational April 29 in Riverside.
The Bears took a limited roster. Deshon Anderson was their highest finisher, placing fourth in the 100.

TAMA — Williamsburg finished runner-up at the WaMaC West Divisional Meet April 29 at Tama Toledo Country Club.
Vinton-Shellsburg won the event by five strokes over the Raiders, 311 to 316. Grinnell was third with 317.
Crew Klingner scored the top round for the Raiders with a 77.
