MARENGO — At Iowa Valley, agriculture education goes beyond the farm. It connects to everyday life in ways students might not always realize.
The 8th grade Ag Know How presentations have highlighted how deeply agriculture is woven into daily essentials, from food to clothing, sports and even the arts.
Through this weekly project, students have explored how agriculture plays a role in everything they use, consume and interact with. Presentations have covered a wide range of topics, including dragon fruit, cupcakes, goats, baseball bats, ballet pointe shoes, chickens, cats, and dogs — all showing that agriculture is about the products and industries we rely on every day.
Students have taken an active role in teaching their peers about agriculture’s importance. The Ag KnowHow project is part of Iowa Valley’s commitment to hands-on, real-world agricultural education, helping students see that agriculture is an essential part of their daily lives.
Whether in the food they eat, the clothes they wear or the sports they play, agriculture is everywhere.
