Students tour with Flying Pans
Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
PELLA — Lauryn Venema, of Amana, and Emory Clements, of Grinnell, are performing with the Central College Flying Pans Steel Drum Ensemble.
Venema also plays the trumpet in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at Central College. Clement plays the flute in the ensemble, and Gabrielle Fye, of Brooklyn, plays clarinet.
Central College offers 18 music ensembles, ranging from the 60-voice A Cappella choir to the Flying Pans Steel Drum Band. The music ensembles are open to music majors and non-majors and several tour annually.
