Summer ball is underway
Here’s a look at a few Hometown Current area players to watch out for

As summer baseball and softball across the state has begun this week, here is look at a few of the Hometown Current area players to watch out for this season:
SOFTBALL
Kennedy Axmear, sr., English Valleys— Axmear led the South Iowa Cedar League last season in batting average with a staggering .567 while also hitting 11 HRs and 40 RBIs. Axmear pitched 131 innings last season with 156 strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA.
Ema Roberts, jr., HLV — Roberts batted .460 last season with an OBP of .528. Roberts also stole 13 bases last season and scored 23 runs.
Jacey Reineke, sr., Belle Plaine— Reineke batted .426 and scored 15 runs to lead the Plainsmen last season and stole 11 bases in 11 attempts.
Lydia Kriegel, jr., Iowa Valley— Kriegel pitched 99 total innings last season with a 3.11 ERA and 103 strikeouts. Kriegel also led the Tigers in hits (27) and RBIs (14).
Shannon Finn, sr., Williamsburg— Finn batted .363 last season with a team high 53 hits and 45 runs for the state champion Raiders. Finn also led the WaMac Conference in stolen bases with 34.
BASEBALL
Max Henstorf, sr., HLV — Henstorf was second in the South Iowa Cedar League in batting average last season batting .500 with 28 total hits. Henstorf also pitched 37 total innings with a 0.95 ERA and giving up only 21 total hits.
Caleb Haack, jr., Iowa Valley— Haack led the Tigers in batting average last season hitting .415 with 8 RBIs. Haack also pitched 31 2/3 innings with a 2.87 ERA and a .182 opponent batting average.
Nile Sinn, jr., Williamsburg— Sinn led the Raiders in batting average hitting .363 as a sophomore while also driving in 22 RBIs. Sinn also pitched 49 innings with 38 strikeouts and a 2.86 ERA.
Nate Hoover, sr., Belle Plaine— Hoover was second on the team in batting average last season hitting .302 and in RBIs (15). Hoover also stole 12 based last season and was third on the team in total innings pitched (21) and help opponents to a .195 batting average.
Luke Moore, sr., English Valleys— Moore was third on the team on batting average last season hitting .212 and hit the team lone home run last season. Moore also led the team in innings pitched (33 2/3) while holding opponents to a .201 batting average with 21 strikeouts.
