Supervisors award bridge contract

VINTON — The Benton County Board of Supervisors approved a special class C retail alcohol license for the Blairstown Sauerkraut Days beer tent during its Aug. 26 meeting in Vinton.
The board awarded a bridge replacement project on 69th St. in Fremont Township north of Atkins to Taylor Construction Inc. of New Vienna.
The board awarded the RCB culvert replacement project on 52nd St. in Polk Township near the Cedar Valley Nature Trail to Iowa Bridge & Culvert, LC of Washington.
The board also approved LRFT grant funding for Benton County integrated roadside management department for a second sprayer.
The board approved a revised contract with ABBE Center leasing office space at Benton County Service Center.
The board approved the job description and posting on the county’s website of an environmental health and land use administrator. This is a joint position with the county and board of health.
A land use hearing was set for Jearid Merchant for land in Section 30, Benton Township for Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 9:15 a.m.
The board approved the abatement of taxes totaling $2,718 on several properties in the county.
The board received a petition, contract and waiver for a seal coat project along 32nd Ave. and 74th and 75th Streets. This involves Pete’s Hill Addition and Southern Exposures.
County Engineer Parizek updated the board on the Van Horne/Blairstown intersection with Highway 30. Parizek said he is waiting for confirmation from the state’s traffic technician. He is expecting to hear from the DOT this week.
