Swimmers win second invitational

CEDAR RAPIDS — Williamsburg’s girls swimming team won its second invitational of the season last week at Cedar Rapids Kennedy, scoring 492 points, 185 more than their closest challengers, the host Cougars.

The Raiders won seven races, including all three relays.

Selah Smith, Elizabeth Stohlmann, Gwen Yearian and Olivia Kelting were 200 medley relay champions; Kelting, Kya Dobesh, Caitlyn Cronbaugh and Laura Carrico won the 200 freestyle relay, and Carrico, Cronbaugh, Dobesh and Smith swam to victory in the 400 freestyle relay.

Carrico added individual titles in the 50 and 100 yard freestyles, and Yearian and Cronbaugh finished first in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

“Another great win,” said Williamsburg coach Mindy Wuebker, whose team has one home meet remaining this season, Oct. 11, at the Raider pool.
