AMANA — A donation of $5,000, proceeds from the Tannenbaum Forest, was recently given to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, Amana Colonies Festivals reported in the Jan. 15 issue of the Amana Society Bulletin.
Donations of $200 were given to KCRG Coats for Kids, Clear Creek Amana School Foundation, Compass Memorial Healthcare’s Hope for All cancer support foundation, Iowa County Safe Haven animal shelter and the Amana Community Public Library.
Despite a blizzard which closed the Forest the Saturday following Thanksgiving, about 1,000 people visited the forest that opening weekend, according to the Bulletin. During a warm final weekend, nearly 6,000 visitors passed through the Festhalle Barn to view the decorated trees.
About 12,000 visitors viewed the Tannenbaum Forest in 2025, the Bulletin said. Overall attendance was down from the previous two years when 16,000 to 18,000 people visited.
