Iowa County Democrats Central Committee

During the first two years of the Biden administration, the American Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act successfully passed Congress. President Joe Biden signed them into law.
As a result of these two bills, $7,489,370 has been delivered to Iowa County.
The Iowa County Democrats will present a series of columns to highlight how this money is being used to improve the quality of life in Iowa County.
The City of Victor received a $129,786 grant to upgrade its wastewater treatment facility. An upgrade was needed to remove viruses from the treated water that is pumped into nearby Bear Creek.
Bear Creek has been designated as a recreational waterway. Folks enjoy fishing, boating, and walking in its waters.
If the viruses were not removed, folks would have an increased risk of getting sick. In addition, having received this money from the American Rescue Plan, Victor residents pay $129, 786 less on their sewer bills.
Victor contracted with the HR Green Engineering Firm out of Cedar Rapids to build a concrete ultraviolet pen. The ultraviolet light destroys the viruses in the water.
One ultraviolet light bulb costs $200 but might last two years. Construction began in October 2022 and is nearly complete.
Thanks to the Biden administration for delivering this money to Victor, Iowa.
Note: Rep. Miller-Meeks and Senators Grassley and Ernst voted no for the American Rescue Plan. Miller-Meeks and Ernst voted no for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
