John Iberg holds a bugle while it electronically plays taps during a Memorial Day ceremony at Marengo Cemetery Monday. Iberg has never been able to play the bugle, he said, but he's been a member of the American Legion for 60 years. The program took place under the shadow of the Civil War memorial and dozens of American flags. Nearly 500 veterans are buried in the Marengo, said American Legion Commander Morris Denson, and several Civil War soldiers are buried at the nearby pioneer cemetery. "Freedom always comes at a very high price," Denson said. (Winona Whitaker/Hometown Current)
