The Rod Pierson Big Band comes to Amana

AMANA — The Rod Pierson Big Band, featuring Craig Boche, will perform at The Amana Performing Arts Center in October.
The 13-member band combines world class musicians with a legendary music library of swing, big band, jump, ballad and contemporary charges, according to a press release from the Amanas.
The band takes pride in bringing a certain Rat Pack sound, swagger and feel to its performances.
The band’s chart list includes songs and arrangements made popular by Sinatra, Darin, Martin, Cole, Prima, Connick, Basie, Bublé, Miller, Setzer and Davis.
The performance is set for Oct. 7 from 7-10 p.m. The Performing Arts Center is located at 39 38th Ave. in Amana.

Pierson experiences as a musician include long term stints with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, The Moe Band, Hunter Fuertes’s Vintage Orchestra and the Guy Lombardo Orchestra.
His jazz credits include performances with Woody Herman, Natalie Cole, John Pizzarelli and Ann Hampton Callaway.
Pierson has backed popular artists such as Aretha Franklin, Burt Bacharach, The Temptations and Bob Hope.
Boche has given countless performances in venues all over the Midwest. From soft romantic ballads to traditional ring-a-ding swing, wild jump tunes, the audience will hear his vocal depth, accuracy and versatility.
TKM Theatrical Productions, a charitable nonprofit theatrical production company, is beginning its 11th season serving Eastern Iowa communities. Co-founders Tom Milligan and Deb Kennedy, combine their extensive theater background to create affordable entertainment.
